BADRINATH WEATHER

Best Time for Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra

The best time to visit Kedarnath and Badrinath is during the summer and early autumn months when weather conditions are favorable and temples remain open for pilgrims. Choosing the right season ensures safe travel, smooth darshan, and a comfortable pilgrimage experience in the Uttarakhand Himalayas.

May to June is considered the most ideal time for the Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra. The temples open after winter, weather remains pleasant, and trekking routes are safe and well maintained.

  • Temple opening after Akshaya Tritiya
  • Temperature ranges between 10°C to 20°C
  • Clear skies and excellent mountain views
  • Suitable for families and senior citizens

Good Season: September to October (Post-Monsoon)

September to early October is another good time to undertake the yatra. After the monsoon ends, the landscape turns lush and green, and crowds are comparatively lower.

  • Less crowded pilgrimage routes
  • Cool weather ranging from 5°C to 15°C
  • Clear visibility and peaceful temple darshan
  • Warm clothing recommended during nights

Avoid: July to August (Monsoon Season)

The monsoon season is not recommended for the Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra due to heavy rainfall and frequent landslides in the region.

  • High risk of landslides and road blockages
  • Unstable trekking conditions
  • Travel delays and safety concerns

Temple Closure: November to April (Winter)

During winter months, both Kedarnath and Badrinath temples remain closed due to heavy snowfall. Roads become inaccessible, making the yatra impossible.
