Travel Tips for Spiti Valley & Chandratal Lake Tour Package
- Acclimatize Properly: Spiti and Chandratal are high-altitude regions, so take it slow on the first day, avoid heavy meals, and stay hydrated to prevent altitude sickness.
- Carry Warm Clothing Year-Round: Even in summer, temperatures drop sharply at night. Pack thermals, down jackets, gloves, warm socks, and windproof layers.
- Keep Cash – ATMs Are Limited: ATMs are rarely available beyond Kaza, and network issues are common. Carry enough cash for small expenses.
- Mobile Network is Very Limited: Only BSNL / Jio work in some parts of Spiti, and there is no network at Chandratal Lake — inform your family beforehand.
- Drink Plenty of Water: High altitude can cause dehydration quickly. Drink water at regular intervals and avoid alcohol on the first day.
- Pack Medicines & a Basic First-Aid Kit: Include altitude-sickness tablets, headache and stomach meds, band-aids, pain relief balms, and ORS.
- Roads Are Rough – Keep Buffer Time: Travel conditions may change due to snowfall, landslides, or road repairs. Keep 1–2 buffer hours each day.
- Respect Local Culture & Monasteries: Dress modestly, speak softly inside monasteries, and always ask before taking photos of monks or villagers.
- Travel Light but Essential:
Must Carry:
- Power bank
- Sunscreen (SPF 50+)
- Sunglasses
- Torch / headlamp
- Reusable water bottle
- Extra camera batteries
- Chandratal Lake Camping Has No Electricity: Nights can be extremely cold, so keep warm layers handy and charge your devices beforehand.
- Avoid Overexertion on the First Day: Your body needs time to adjust. Walk slowly, take breaks, and don’t trek or run unnecessarily.
- Drink Only Packaged or Filtered Water: Helps prevent stomach infections during the journey.
- Don’t Rely on Google Maps Alone: Network drops often; your driver/guide will know the correct routes across Kunzum Pass, Losar, Batal, and Kaza.

We have come from Kolkata for the Char Dham tour with Thrill Himalaya - we are really happy that - even in the midst of this catastrophe due to the heavy
rain in uttarakhand, Thrill Himalaya's Ravi Kant Ji is completing our Chardham yatra so beautifully. Whether we are going the right way - whether we like the
hotel - whether we like the hotel room - whether we are getting the right food - all these Ravi Kant ji has asked us every day - and to be very honest they have
arranged everything so beautifully that we Couldn't imagine from Kolkata. Honestly, we are very happy with their management. And our driver Sunny Bhai is such a
good boy and a very good guide too - his driving in this remote place is really admirable. Now it's our turn to go home through Haridwar - but in future when we
will go out for a tour we will first contact with Thrill Himalaya's Ravi Kant Ji. Again we are telling, they are really very good. all the best to Thrill
Himalaya and good luck for Ravi Kant ji.
